Alternative Christmas gift idea | Alpaca walking at Lucky Tails in Warwickshire

In an effort to be more environmentally friendly and cut down on plastic toys and Christmas tat that ends up in landfill each year, we have been trying to gift our children experiences and vouchers for days out instead.

Last year our 8 year old was gifted a trip to Stamford Bridge and a match of the day magazine subscritpion which went down an absolute storm and our 4 year old, outdoorsy animal lover, was gifted a voucher for Alpaca walking at Lucky tails via the Buy a Gift website.

The voucher entitles entry for 2 adults and 2 children (valid for 10 months) for £29 however if you sign up to the Buy a Gift newsletter you can get £10 your order!!

£29 is excellent value for money as it is, but for £19 you can't go wrong.

It is also worth noting that the voucher entitles you ALL to walk your own Alpaca, of which you get to choose yourself.

Lucky tails is situated in the scenic Warwickshire countryside and is home to continental giant bunnies, pygmy goats, chickens and runner ducks as well as the most obvious, the stars of the show, the Alpaca's themselves.

After the Alpaca walking, you are able to take your time to visit all of the other animals on the farm too, as well as a visit to the little on site shop (there is also a toilet available!)

The whole experience is not only fun and hands on, being up close and personal with these curious animals, but also really educational too, learning all about their fleeces and what they like/ don't like.

Once you have chosen which Alpaca you would like to walk, they are harnessed up and you take a big group walk around the farm grounds, with plenty of opportunity to grab a selfie on the way!

As you can see, Finn was only little (just turned 3) when we went for our Alpaca walking experience and he handled his own Alpaca perfectly fine. They are honestly THE most gently, lovable animals you could meet.

My husband is not so much an animal lover and thought Alpaca's were ugly, funny animals.... but by the end of the experience he was taken and wanted to bring one home with him as much as we did!

They honestly steal your heart.

All in all it was a lovely day out and was enjoyed by children and adults alike and I think a brilliant alternative Christmas present. One that can carry on the joy of Christmas way beyond December.
